I was so wrong about you NITRkl, I love you!!!

Disclaimer: I am writing this post after I have found a new love for my insti's campus and maintainence after my recent visit to NIT Jamshedpur.

Smell of cow dung was in the air, the trees were dry and without leaves, the mess was a really messy and smelly!! This was my first impression of NIT Jamshedpur where we arrived at 4 am in the morning.
We were put up in the common room of Hostel C above the mess. There was a cooler provided which when turned on produced this foul smell like I was in a zoo by the bull pits. A CRT television (can you believe, a CRT television in Common Room!!! Gosh!! We have LCDs in ours!!) was also there but can you imagine there was no water cooler even in the mess!! While exploring, I came in the vicinity of a closed door. The odor coming from inside almost did serious disturb to my olfactory system. Yeah, you guessed it right. It was the bathroom (I wondered how anyone can bath in that room!!) provided to us.

Skipping to the next day (I am not going to include our sleeping details!!!)

The morning breakfast was better than us and by morning the mess was less messy and smelly! There was also a powercut in the morning which lasted almost 7 hrs!! My friend wanted to recharge his cell phone. So we set out in the day to recharge his cell, see the campus a bit & visit the LH. They don’t have ‘Hex’ or ‘amul cool’ to recharge!! We had to go outside the campus hiring an auto just to recharge! The market was what you call, AWWEEEFFFFUUUUULLLLLLL!!!! Hell, why do we curse sector 2?? The campus area looked like an extended version of our “Backpost”!! We couldn’t find any canteen(no night canteen too!!)!!! Can you imagine that, and we curse “Rangcol” and “Calorie”! The huge barren area around the campus resembled a prison in a desert! The trees were dry and leafless and many abandoned houses gave a spooky feeling even during daytime. After lot of walking we found the LH. Most of the windows were closed. One was in the process of closing which was catalyzed by seeing looking at her (she seemed cute though?) . The other two, who braved the heat to keep their windows open, still looked better than NITRkl’s standard! The main academic building looked like a typical government office. The only Air Conditioned place is library like us where we don’t go.
Guys read the next line very carefully. The important “commodities” shop was around 4kms from the institute!!! May be that’s why the authorities have allowed students to keep their own bikes. Cattles were omnipresent in the campus but the good thing was that so were the thelewalas and khomchewalas.

Our stay was a two day and two night affair and we didn’t get any non-veg item (how can they eat and survive!!), though the quality of pulses and rice was certainly better and our 16 member squad had done 175 shots of nimboo pani during the period(i used 'shots' because it sounds cooler) !!!
BTW, their hostility was lot better and their authorities were very good compared to ours.

One interesting incident:
I went into the boarders’ bathroom to take bath. The guy who entered in the next shower cubicle was singing loud and all the time. I wondered whether it was because his door had no lock. When I finished my shower, I tried to find out the reason. And the reason was:His cubicle door was half broken with the lower half missing!!!


P.S. We were knocked out of the EZINCT after loosing both the matches comprehensively. We cut short our stay and returned back without seeing the city after we were informed that there would be no electricity for the whole night!!
